Duan was born in South Africa and started  his career in the South African Navy. He qualified as a dental technician in Cape Town  in 1997. He continued his training  and received a bachelor’s degree in dental technology in 1998. 

He started working in private laboratories in Cape Town until 2003.  During this period he was approached by the University of Stellenbosch to train 4th and 5th year dental students  in the art of making dentures and removable orthodontic appliances. This was a great opportunity to work in the university hospital  and a wealth of experience was accumulated during this period. 

An opportunity to relocate to the UK was offered to him and in January 2004 he relocated to Gt. Britain.  He worked in private laboratories until he was ready to start his own practice in 2010. Duan acquired a diploma in clinical dental  technology  from the Royal College of Surgeons in London and did courses in Japan and Tokyo to increase his scope of practice.  The courses in Japan were done under Dr. Abe who is a well renowned specialist in removable prosthodontic's. 

 Duan has a special interest in cosmetic dentures and makes it a priority to listen and understand what patients want to make sure they will be happy with their smile after receiving their new dentures. 

Being  one of only 290 clinical technologists in the UK  Duan  can treat patients directly, this means that the person making your dentures are also treating you in a clinical environment. 

Duan enjoys helping people and has great empathy for patients who have lost their teeth. He is very dedicated to his work and gets great enjoyment when patients are happy with the end results of their new smiles.  Duan also is greatly committed to his CPD Education which is required by the General Dental Council to make sure he keeps up with all the latest dentistry requirements.  He  also gets referrals from both clients and dentists in the local area and also works closely with dentists to pass on patients  if need be.

It is highly important to him that patients have good quality care and their interests are put first which is also a requirement from General Dental Council.
